Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
