Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
